In May 2020, VMT Vision Machine Technic Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH (VMT) from Mannheim will celebrate its 25th company anniversary. The company, which has been part of the Pepperl+Fuchs Group since the end of 2006, is one of the leading providers of innovative image processing systems and complete solutions for sensor-based robot control. VMT currently employs more than 120 people and is represented internationally in all relevant industries and markets.
Enthusiasm for innovative technology, the pursuit of customer-oriented and practicable image processing solutions as well as the creation of a high degree customer satisfaction through a service-oriented alignment of the company – all of this motivated Harald Mikeska and Dr. Frank Grünewald to found VMT Vision Machine Technic Bildverarbeitungssysteme GmbH in Edingen-Neckarhausen (near Heidelberg). The business started on May 1, 1995 and the two experienced specialists and their motivated developers and engineers developed 3D vision systems for object and position recognition that enable visual guidance of robots. Since then, VMT has steadily developed through new algorithms, processes and solutions, such as neural networks and machine learning processes (“deep learning”), which are still important areas of development for the VMT to this day.
